Musings during the pandemic

June 2, 2020

It’s been a year since I added to my blog. It’s not that I haven’t been writing or thinking about writing–I have, just not on my blog. In fact, I had another book published (Inspiration for Christian Teen Girls) and it’s one of my favorite projects (the latest is always the greatest!)

During this pandemic–yep, it’s a regular ole word now–I’ve used the book with my daughter, partly to get her reading in and most importantly to discuss faith issues with her. Because she is 10, I have her read the devotions to me and we talk about them. Actual teen girls can handle the content alone and process it without mom!

But this post is really about the pandemic. Who could have guessed in a million years we’d be here–most of us sheltering in place, working from home, praying for essential workers, paralyzed by the news. It looks like we’re opening up (except in Chicago where we still have to wait at least another week or so) but things will not go back to “normal.” People are walking around with masks, stores can only allow a certain amount of people in, gatherings with large crowds are prohibited (just when I was working down town again and was planning to hit the Taste of Chicago food festival every day in July!). But we will get through this–we have to. My prayer is that we can get through it with as little PTSD as possible (even though now the protests surrounding the awful death of George Floyd have been muddled with looting and civil unrest, making our spirits even more weary). So please take care of your spirits–however you can. Protect your mind and heart. Pray. Pray. Pray. Trust. Trust. Trust. And turn off the news some time.

What good have you discovered during this time? I have some things to write about that soon. I’ll be back (in less than 1 year, I promise!)

I’m trying to use my love of writing and passion for keeping this journey real and relevant to help others navigate successfully and happily through life. It is a journey filled with ups and downs, potholes and mountaintops…but it does not have to be walked alone.
